I. Opening Time Slots & Teaching duration
1. After joining the platform, teachers must have an online duration of at least 6 months. and if this is not adhered to, 30% will be deducted from their final salary.
2. Teachers have an obligation to open 20 hours (60 slots) over a two-week period. The teacher should open slots on at least two days each week. If you choose to open slots on three days in a week, you must open a minimum of 4-5 slots on each of those days.(One slot is 20 minutes.)
3. The teacher must set a two-week class schedule in advance every Thursday, ensuring at least 30 slots are opened per week. Any changes to this schedule can be made after notifying the administration via wechat.
4. If teachers have actual difficulties and cannot continue to set classes, they must notify at least 1 weeks in advance and must not arbitrarily terminate classes without a valid reason. In the event of a breach of contract, 30%-50% of the teacher's salary may be deducted depending on the circumstances.
** It is very important to open class time slots regularly.
Teachers who cannot open classes regularly on a bi-weekly basis cannot work on the Tutalk English platform.
** We recommend not proceeding with the platform onboarding process if it is difficult to work for more than six months
** Teachers are not permitted to conduct more than four consecutive classes. After opening four slots, please ensure to leave one slot empty as a break time.
** When opening class slots, please consider peak times when student bookings are relatively higher.
Peak periods (Beijing time)
- Morning: 05:00 ~ 09:00
- Evening: 18:00~23:00
** Our teaching approach is as described above. Fundamentally, teachers are required to set their class slots accordingly.
** Students can book classes up to one hour before the lesson, so if your slots are open for today, your phone must always be on, and your computer should be on to receive booking notifications.
If it is difficult for you to check notifications on the same day, please make sure to close the slots in advance to avoid receiving bookings.
(1).Booking system: Tutors open slots for students to schedule classes in advance. Classes start when both join at the booked time.
(2).On-Air request: Tutors set 'On-Air' status for students to request real-time classes.
II. Salary
1. A newly registered teacher will be paid $1.4 per class ticket (when you teach more than 30 classes on 2 weeks, the rate will increase to 1.5 USD per class automatically).
2. To qualify for the 3~5% bonus increase in hourly wage at TuTalk, a tutor must meet the following conditions:
(1).Teaching Frequency: The tutor must conduct at least 60 classes bi-weekly.
(2).Absences and Cancellations: The tutor must have no more than two instances of absence or class cancellations over a three-month period.
(3).Total Number of Classes Taught: The tutor must have taught more than 3000 classes.
(4).Rating: The tutor's rating must be 4.98 or higher.
3. Salary is paid once every two weeks via paypal.
(6th and 21st of every month)
(If your bi-weekly salary exceeds $150, it can also be sent via GCash.)
4. Due to part-time work, TuTalk English pays teachers only for class remuneration. Other insurance and other expenses are handled in accordance with personnel subordination and have nothing to do with TuTalk English.
5. The rate for a trial class is 1.0 USD per class, and if the student enrolls after your class, you will receive a 1.5 USD signing-up bonus. (If the lessons do not meet the class quality standards, payment may not be made.)
(1).If the conversion rate from trial to enrolled classes is lower than the average rate of 40%, we will review whether the class met our quality standards. If it did not meet these standards, the signing bonus may not be provided.
(2). A lot of effort is invested in conducting a trial class for each student. If the conversion rate is below 40%, we will monitor all of the tutor's classes to identify any issues and provide feedback, aiming to ensure more satisfactory classes for the students.
III. Guidelines for Maintaining High-Quality Teaching Standards in English Lessons
If your rebooking rate is below 50%, you will be selected for intensive management. Your lessons will be monitored, and feedback will be provided. If class quality does not improve after receiving feedback, your account may be closed.
The primary objectives for students are:
1) to speak more English to improve fluency,
2) to improve pronunciation, grammar, and expression with teacher guidance,
3) to learn new vocabulary and expressions.
To meet these objectives and maintain high-quality lessons, teachers must follow the guidelines below:
⭐ The strongest factor affecting rebooking rates is the teacher’s human interaction — something AI cannot replace. High-performing teachers consistently show genuine kindness, patience, responsibility, and interest in the student. They create a positive and enjoyable class atmosphere, personalize the lesson instead of relying only on the textbook, remember student preferences, and provide continuous follow-up. This human-centered approach is essential for long-term student satisfaction and improved learning outcomes.
1. Maintain a 7:3 student-to-teacher talk ratio. Keep explanations concise and guide students to speak more through questions and textbook prompts.
2. Use the app’s proofreading feature at least 3 times per lesson.
3. Paraphrase the student’s sentences at least 3 times and introduce new vocabulary or expressions naturally during the lesson.
4. Introduce a minimum of 3 new expressions or vocabulary items during every lesson.
5. Send corrections (pronunciation, vocabulary, expressions, sentence structure) via chat during the lesson.
6. After correcting errors, ask follow-up questions or have the student reread to reinforce accurate usage.
7. Respect the student’s specific requests (e.g., skipping self-introductions).
8. Conduct a final review (quiz format) one minute before class ends, using corrected chat content.
9. Before teaching, confirm the student’s language/nationality to avoid incorrect language use or referencing the wrong country.
10. Feedback must include corrected pronunciation, vocabulary, expressions, and newly learned sentences. Submit feedback strictly following the guidelines.
[Words and Pronunciation Section] Include mispronounced words, new vocabulary, unfamiliar words, and paraphrased vocabulary. (Minimum 4 items)
1) Pronunciation Improvement: List commonly mispronounced words with correct pronunciation.
2) Challenging Vocabulary: Provide simple explanations for difficult words.
3) Paraphrased Vocabulary: Include synonyms/antonyms for vocabulary expansion.
[Sentence and Expression Section] Include new expressions, examples, unclear sentences, newly formed sentences, and paraphrasing. (Minimum 4 items)
1) New Expressions & Examples: Add new idioms/phrases with examples.
2) Unclear Sentences: Provide simplified versions.
3) New Sentences: Include sentences formed during the lesson.
4) Paraphrased Sentences: Rephrase to show natural alternatives.
[Proofreading Feature] Using the correction tool automatically records items. (Must be used at least 3 times)
1) Grammar Correction: Fix grammar issues.
2) Vocabulary Enhancement: Suggest more natural word choices.
3) Natural Paraphrasing: Improve fluency and naturalness.
*** The proofreading feature may also be used after class.
[Overall Feedback]
• Strengths — What the student did well
• Improvement Areas — Specific skills to improve
• Progress — Notable development
• Summary — Key points and vocabulary
• Recommendations — What to practice next
• Motivation — Encouragement
• Actionable Tips — Clear guidance
Keep feedback balanced, constructive, and personalized to the student.
[Level Test Overall]
Provide a realistic and consistent level assessment each lesson. Refer to the student’s profile and previous scores from other tutors.
Please write feedback that serves as a practical review tool for students.
Failure to follow these essential guidelines may result in a lower rebooking rate and insufficient student improvement.
Continuous monitoring will be conducted. If no improvement is observed after multiple warnings, the teacher’s account may be closed.
IV. Being Late, Absent, and Leaving Early**If your attendance reliability rate is below 97%, you will be selected as a tutor for intensive management. Penalties for class absences and cancellations will be doubled. If issues with absences and cancellations persist, your account will be closed after a warning.
1. Each class must be at least 20 minutes long. If the student arrives late, the teacher is required to conduct the class only for the remaining scheduled time.
2. If you are late to class, as in this case where you entered the classroom at 8:20:24 and started the lesson 27 seconds late, and then ended the session at 8:40, the call duration will be recorded as 19 minutes and 33 seconds. This can lead to student dissatisfaction as the minimum required call time is 20 minutes. The minimum required call time is 20 minutes, and failure to meet this requirement will result in the class being canceled.
(Please ensure that the full class duration is observed unless the student is the one who arrived late.)
3. Punctuality is crucial. Teachers must start and end classes on time. Lateness is not permitted. If a teacher is late without prior agreement with the student, the class ticket will be cancelled and returned to the student's account.
4. If a tutor repeatedly arrives more than one minute late to the first class, even when it's not back-to-back, it is considered a violation of the tardiness policy. After a warning, if the lateness continues, penalties will be applied.
(When a tutor consistently arrives late by one minute, students may perceive this as a lack of commitment to punctuality and may choose not to book your classes again. This could also lead to students deciding not to repurchase classes on our platform.)
5. In cases where a teacher is absent without explanation, 2 to 3 lesson tickets will be deducted. If such unexplained absences occur more than three times within a three-month period, the teacher's account will be closed.
(If the teacher's absence is due to understandable and special circumstances, either one lesson ticket may be deducted.)
6. In case of technical issues with the platform, teachers should immediately take a screenshot and contact the administration. This is the only circumstance under which a lesson ticket will not be deducted for platform-related problems.
7. In case of urgent matters, teachers are required to notify the administration at least 3 hours prior to the class to facilitate communication with the students.
8. For back-to-back classes, it is important to conclude each session precisely at the 20-minute mark to ensure that subsequent classes start on time and are not delayed by more than a minute.
V. Class cancellation**If your attendance reliability rate is below 97%, you will be selected as a tutor for intensive management. Penalties for class absences and cancellations will be doubled. If issues with absences and cancellations persist, your account will be closed after a warning
** If you miss a class, cancel a class, or arrive late, students may perceive a lack of responsibility regarding time management and may choose not to book your classes again. This will lower your rebooking rate, and as a result, your class schedule may not fill up as desired, making it difficult to achieve your income goals.
** Additionally, when students are unsure if their classes will be canceled or if there will be no-shows, they feel insecure about booking classes, which may lead them to stop using our platform altogether.
** To prevent this situation, we place the utmost importance on punctuality and adherence to schedules. If you fail to meet these standards, high penalties will be applied, and if the issues persist, your account will be closed, making it impossible to continue working on the platform. Please be particularly mindful of this.
1. Class cancellations are not permitted unless under very special circumstances. If urgent situations necessitate a class cancellation, teachers must first inform the administrator via WeChat(without waiting for an admin reply.), cancel the class, and immediately close the corresponding time slot.
In case of class cancellation, the ticket will be refunded, but 0 to 2 tickets may be deducted from your account, depending on the circumstances.
2. If you notify us in advance and the situation is understandable, and don't cancel the class frequently, there may be no teacher ticket deduction. However, frequent cancellations may lead to ticket deductions.
3. Cancellations within 3 hours of class time will result in the deduction of one lesson ticket (2~3 tickets for no-shows).
4. Failure to notify the administrator via WeChat before or after canceling a class will result in the deduction of one lesson ticket under any circumstances.
5. If cancellations become frequent and there is a substantial number of classes canceled, the number of deducted tickets will be doubled.
** Therefore, it is recommended to adjust your teaching slots in advance to avoid the need for cancellations.
6. At the same time, in order to protect the interests of teachers, the students are not allowed to cancel 2 hours before class. If the students cannot attend the class, teachers can get the ticket for that class normally. So the students also have to take the corresponding responsibilities.
** We recommend that you enter the classroom 1-2 minutes before the class starts to avoid any delays. Please be aware that if the class does not start on time due to your lateness and is delayed by more than a minute, a penalty may be applied.
** If you are late to the class by more than a minute, students may perceive a lack of responsibility regarding time management and may choose not to book your classes again. This will lower your rebooking rate, and as a result, your class schedule may not fill up as desired, leading to a decrease in your income.
** To prevent this situation, we place the utmost importance on punctuality. If you fail to adhere to this, high penalties will be applied, and if the issue persists, your account may be closed
VI. About student's complaint report (Attitude, class quility, Late, abscent)
1. When a student reports a compliance report, the administrator checks the recording and data of the class. At the same time, the admin asks the teacher to explain the problem of the class.
After checking, if there was a problem with the class due to the teacher's cause, the class will be canceled and the teacher's tuition will be deducted depending on the situation.
2.Teachers must abide by the basic tenets of TuTalk English and must not act irresponsibly to students, such as eating in class, walking during class, answering the phone, or playing mobile phone during class or verbally insulting students.
3. Changes in the tutor's teaching environment, which causes connectivity issues and noises, may result in a maximum of 100% of the pay (per class) decrease, according to the degree of the problem. If the tutor is the main cause of the class disruption, TuTalk has to issue a refund to the student. Thus, TuTalk tutors must always check and maintain the optimal teaching environment.
4. We check the connection data, and if the class was disrupted because of the teacher's internet connection, classe will be canceled.
VII. Student's review for the teacher.
1. When a teacher's overall score is less than 4.88 points (the full score is 5 points), the teacher will be forced to be offline.
2. If the student gives the teacher a one-point rate, the admin checks the recording and class data of the class and cancels the class if it is a problem with the teacher.
VIII. About submitting feedback after class
1. If a tutor doesn't submit student feedback after class, the class will not be considered finished. Thus, the tutor will not be paid for that class. Tutors must give student feedback within 6 hours from the end of the class.(If tutor submit feedback after 6 hours, only half of class tickets will be paid for the course.)
If it is trial class tutors must give student feedback within 2 hours from the end of the class.
2. Feedback must include the following contents, and if it does not meet the feedback guidelines, the class may be considered incomplete, Failing to meet these standards may result in receiving only half of the designated class fee.

IX. Three Strikes Policy: Account Suspension for Repeated Regulation Violations
If a tutor violates the regulations three or more times, their account will be suspended immediately without further warnings. This policy covers violations related to class absences, cancellations, feedback submission, issue reporting, communication with administrators, open slots rule and overall class quality.
We have worked with many tutors and encountered various situations. Tutors who demonstrate professionalism by being responsible for class time, committed to students, adhering to regulations, and maintaining communication with administrators rarely face issues, leading to higher rebooking rates and the income they desire. However, tutors who neglect these responsibilities often encounter repeated problems.
** It is important to understand that following the regulations is key to maintaining a high rebooking rate. Students are less likely to rebook with a tutor if they experience cancellations or absences, which directly impacts the tutor’s ability to achieve their desired income.
Therefore, we urge all tutors to take responsibility for their class time, students, and adherence to regulations.
X. Other explanations
**We communicate with our tutors through WeChat. Quick communication between tutors and administrators is very important on our online platform. If any issues arise during open slot times or while teaching, and you do not respond to our WeChat messages within 1 days, 30% will be deducted from your next salary. If there is continuous lack of communication, your teaching account will be closed after a warning message. Please make sure to respond after checking the messages.
[Obligation to Notify the Administrator in Case of Issues]
If any issues arise before or during a class, it is mandatory to notify the administrator immediately. Failure to inform us will be considered the teacher's responsibility for the class not proceeding, and penalties may be applied as a result.
To ensure proper communication, please report any issues by sending a screenshot along with a detailed explanation via WeChat to the administrator.
1. We do not allow personal communication via mobile phones or social media between tutors and students. It is strictly prohibited to ask students' personal contact information or to give them teacher's contact information. (If you do the above, the account will be suspended and the remaining salary will not be paid.)
If teacher need to contact the student personally, please inquire TuTalk's customer service.
2. The lowest open time slots requirement: teachers must have a fixed period to have classes that are no less than 10 hours a week ( you can also have classes other than the fixed period). If you cannot have class at the fixed time or want to make an adjustment, please inform us at least 10 days in advance. Teachers who cannot continue to have classes due to their personal reasons should explain that to us at least 2 weeks in advance. If you don't explain to us in advance and have no fixed time slots which are open or you terminate your class without permission, you will be forced to be offline and will face penalties.
3. The way you have class here: 20-minutes or 40-minutes long audio and video class+ after class feedback.
4. The student can request either a 20-minute-long class or a 40-minute-long class.
20-minute-long classes continue for 20 minutes, and 40-minute-long class, for 40 minutes.
The price for 40-minute-long classes is double the 20-minute-long classes.
5. If the student does not show up after 10 minutes from the start of the class, you can mark the student as 'absent' from the Error/Absent application tab.
Even if the student does not show up, the tutor still gets the payment.
6. Our average purchase rate following free lessons is 40%. This is due to our minimal profit margins, very affordable tuition fees, an easy learning system, and the provision of high-quality teachers.
Please note that if the quality of the tutor's lessons is not up to standard, resulting in a post-purchase conversion rate of less than 35% relative to the number of free lessons given, the signing bonus will not be issued.
